How to check email login history
Short answer
Use the provider’s account-security view to compare device, time, browser and approximate location. Look for a sequence of unexplained successful events rather than one geolocation dot.
What you need to know
Read the account activity the provider exposes.
-
A timeline is more useful than a location alone
Compare event type, successful/failed outcome and the time with your own devices. Record the display’s timezone if given. Do not assume each provider exposes the same fields or records every action.
-
Can login history track a person?
It can help review your own account access. It does not identify who physically used a device or prove which message they read. A network location may reflect a carrier, VPN or authorized app rather than the user’s exact position.
Check, act, and the limit
-
Start by checking
Write down the event time and sign-in method shown by the provider.
-
Then act
Report unfamiliar activity in the same security interface and review your recovery methods.
-
Know the limit
The displayed location can be approximate or reflect network routing.
