Recovery email or phone changed
Short answer
An unfamiliar recovery address or number is a critical setting change. Remove it through the provider’s security flow and review recent account activity.
What you need to know
Check who can regain access later.
-
Distinguish a recovery contact from a delivery destination
A recovery email affects future account verification; a forwarding destination affects message delivery. One account can have both. Record which field changed instead of treating them as the same setting.
-
An old value can still be visible
Provider security delays and notifications differ. Follow the actual prompt before repeating changes. If the account is no longer accessible, use that provider’s recovery route; HackEmail cannot remove a contact remotely.
Check, act, and the limit

Start by checking
Record the old and new details as shown in the provider dashboard.
-
Then act
Secure the account, restore owner-controlled recovery methods and review trusted devices.
-
