Not receiving expected email
Short answer
Start with Spam, Trash, storage and filters. If mail is being forwarded to an address you did not add, treat it as a possible account-security issue.
What you need to know
Check delivery changes without guessing.
-
Test ordinary mail and the affected category
Use a harmless test message. Compare whether all mail is missing or only reset alerts, invoices or one sender. A selective condition is useful when inspecting filters; an empty Inbox alone does not prove deletion.
-
Delivery failure is not necessarily an incident
Check storage and message placement first. Escalate to security review when you also find unapproved forwarding, filters or account changes. General missing-message troubleshooting belongs to the mailbox-help route, not a claim that every delayed message is a hack.
Check, act, and the limit
-
Start by checking
Test with a harmless message you control and review mailbox rules.
-
Then act
Disable unknown rules, then secure the account and repeat the test.
-
Know the limit
One missing message can be a sender or delivery problem, not proof of intrusion.
