Unknown device on my email account
Short answer
A device label can be vague; compare browser, date and your own devices. If still unexplained, sign it out and secure the account using the provider’s controls.
What you need to know
Decide whether to remove an unfamiliar session.
-
Device name and session are different
Google explains that one device can have several browser/app sessions. Its displayed time can include background communication. A repeated device name therefore does not necessarily mean several strangers.
-
If you still cannot explain it
Follow the provider’s sign-out and security controls. A signed-out entry can remain in recent history; compare its state rather than treating continued display of the label as a new successful login.
Check, act, and the limit
-
Start by checking
Review all sessions with the same device name.
-
Then act
Sign out of the sessions you cannot account for, change your password and check 2FA.
-
Know the limit
A session list is not a map of who held the device.
