Proton Mail security check
Short answer
Proton keeps account security in your Proton Account, not inside a single message. Open Account → Security from a saved address, review active sessions and sign-in events, confirm two-factor is on, and check that no recovery method was changed without you.
What you need to know
Review the Proton Account behind your mailbox.
-
Read the security events, not one message
Account → Security lists sessions and recent security events. Treat a new session from an unfamiliar place as the signal to act, not a single email you did not expect.
-
Confirm the second factor
Proton supports authenticator apps and security keys. A second factor stops a leaked password from being enough on its own.
-
Check recovery paths
Confirm the recovery email and phone are still yours; a changed recovery method is how access is kept after a password reset.
Check, act, and the limit
-
Start by checking
Open account.proton.me → Settings → Security and read active sessions and security events.
-
Then act
Sign out sessions you do not recognize, confirm two-factor is on, then review recovery email and phone.
-
Know the limit
This site cannot read Proton mail or sign in for you; account actions happen in Proton’s own settings.
